Reiki and Energy Medicine for Animals

images-2There are a handful of gentle and subtle healing techniques and types of energy work or energy medicine that I use to help facilitate the healing process for my clients, such as Reiki, chakra balancing, polarity therapy, and cranial-sacral therapy. Here are explanations of what these techniques are:

Reiki is an energy work technique that guides and transfers the universal ki (energy, qi, chi) through the practitioner’s palms or hands to promote healing within the client. A fixed number of hand placements are commonly used, but some practitioners let their intuition guide them to where the energy flow is blocked or to where healing needs to take place. A Reiki session might also focus on balancing the seven Chakras. Reiki can be done hands-on or with the hands a few inches over the body.

Chakra Balancing is when the focus for the healing session is primarily on the seven main chakras with the intent to bring their spin, flow, and color into a more balanced and healthy state.

Polarity Therapy seeks to find where energy is unbalanced, blocked, or fixed due to stress or other factors. This allows pain and disease to arise. Energy blockages in the body’s energy field (the positive and negative charges in the body’s electromagnetic field) begin at the subtle level but eventually manifest at the denser level of bodily tissues such as muscle and fascia. Polarity Therapy views health as a reflection of the condition of the energy field, and there are 3 types of energy fields: Long line currents that run north to south in the body; transverse currents that run east-west in the body; and spiral currents that start at the navel and expand outward. Polarity therapy’s goal is to address the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of healing.

Cranio-sacral Therapy is a very subtle hands-on technique which helps to regulate, promote, rehabilitate, and balance out the flow of the cerebral-spinal fluid, and with the lightest touch it encourages the head, face, sacrum and tail bones back into alignment. This technique is ideal for any head, face, spine, spinal cord, or posture-affecting injuries and illnesses, including any emotional trauma associated with them.

Saint Francis and World Animal Day

Through the Peacock's Eyes

Today is both the Feast of Saint Francis and World Animal Day! I have been very blessed to have shared my entire life with many animals. Since birth my life has been filled with animals and full because of animals. I’ve owned, lived with, raised, healed, and bred all sorts of animals: hamsters, songbirds, tropical birds, chickens, fresh and tropical fish, toads, an iguana, snakes, turtles, a tarantula, cats, and dogs. I cannot imagine what it is like to not have animals around. My current “kids”:

I am eternally grateful for animals, and I pray that all humans learn to love and appreciate the lessons and love that animals can bring into our lives!

Saint Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals, gardens, and the environment. He came from a wealthy family, having all the comforts of luxury for his day, but he saw that material things and pleasures could not…
